A Hanoi artist has found a lucrative market for his unusual artwork, which is made from discarded used bottles.
Dinh Thien Tam, in Ba Dinh District, uses his skills in graphic design and fine arts to turn bottles into distinctive artworks.
He began experimenting with bottles around his own home and those supplied by friends, but he has now expanded to gathering used bottles from restaurants and bars.
The shape and style of the bottle sets the tone for what he will ultimately create, Tam said, adding he studies the bottle closely before deciding on the colouring and pattern for his art.
Tam’s wife, Nguyen Dieu Thuy, draws in the outline by hand and says she can handle about 10 bottles a day.
His decorated bottles fetch up to VND500,00 (USD23.8), and the business is generating monthly revenue of tens of millions of VND.
